A.B. Hutchins in 1814. The primary inhumation was found in a pit cut 4ft deep into the chalk underlying the barrow. With this burial was a tanged copper dagger (1) found near the right arm, a stone wrist-guard (7) under the arm of a beaker (6) inverted over two barbed and tanged arrowheads (8) between the knees and feet. A secondary cremation, which may have been enclosed within a wooden box was accompanied by a tanged knife or dagger (2) four \"iron\" arrowheads (5) and a small circular earthen vase (9). At a depth of 18\" from the top of the barrow, near the south, a cairn of rough flints with a capstone, covered a large urn (10) inverted over a cremation which had been wrapped in cloth (not preserved). With the cremation was a bronze razor (3) an awl (4) amber buttons (13) a small flower-pot shaped cup and human hair (14).
