A cremation found in a pit below the barrow had been contained in a wooden box. With the cremation was a small bronze spearhead, or, more probably, a dagger, which, when found, had a wooden handle apparently about a foot long. [Reference (b) and (c) remark that a wooden shaft a foot long could not have been the haft of a dagger].
