Excavated in 1953 by N. Thomas. Depressions were seen at the centre of each mound. The central mound contained a central burial pit with the cremated bones found disturbed by RCH. Another cremation with a bronze awl (1) was found in the SE side of the mound. Under the bank in the NW quadrant was a concentration of Beaker sherds (2) belonging to one vessel. The second mound almost filled the space between the eastern edge of the central mound and the inner edge of the encircling ditch, and covered a large oval pit. At least two cremations had been incorporated into the filling which had been disturbed by Cunnington & Hoare who had left a penny of 1779 there.
