Carroll of Boston Spa in 1859, situated on the summit of a small hill adjoining the Walton and Wetherby road. The tumulus was about 8 ft in height and rather more than 200 ft in circumference. The core of the mound was found to consist of a cairn of large boulders, in the top of which was a basin-like hollow. In it were found a number of charred bones, some fragments of bronze (1) and several pieces of flint \"in a rude form\" (2). The cairn was covered by a capping of earth, about 2 ft thick and upon this was piled another stone layer, again with a basin-like cavity on top. In this was found a second burial accompanied by flint implements (3).
