It was kept in the farmhouse for some weeks and then sent to Mr Angus Stewart, jeweller, of Buchanan Street, Glasgow, who showed ot to several persons. Subsequently he, Mr Ludovic Mann, and others, went to the farm in the hope of being able to complete a record of the find and to secure any associated objects. The immediate neighbourhood of the find was dug over and the soil sifted. Mr Ludovic Mann records that \"within a few inches of the place where the first object had been recovered\" he found the gold lockring (2).
