Carrington opened the barrow. Below the barrow there was a large pit cut 3ft into rock. The pit was 6ft wide and was \"cleaned out for the distance of 10ft from the S. end, without meeting with the other extremity which time would not allow of our doing\". In that part of the pit which was explored a crouched inhumation with a dagger (1) under the shoulder.
