A Mr Watkinson was inspecting the sides of a cutting made for the foundations of some houses, when he saw some dark pottery, 6\" to 8\" below the natural surface of the ground. He attempted to remove the pottery, but unfortunately the large, outer urn (2) fell to pieces, disclosing a smaller urn (3) inverted within the larger and covering a quantity of burnt bones. With the cremation was a bronze tanged blade (1) in six fragments and damaged by heat, a pygmy cup (4) and a burned leaf shaped arrowhead (5). Reference (a) reports that an inspection of the findspot failed to detect any trace of a mound.
