A skeleton of an adult female was found, lying on top of a layer of compressed sedges 2\" to 3\" thick, which rested on undisturbed clay. The bones were covered by 1' 9\" of peat. There was no evidence of deliberate burial and it was conjectured that the woman had been drowned. According to the workmen the skeleton was lying face down wards with one arm across her face and the other arm extended.
