Riley opened the cist during Whitsuntide. He found an irregular stone slab 5ft long, resting on a bed of broken limestone 4\" thick. Below this were three smaller slabs \"lying like a pavement\" which proved to be the roofing stones of a cist of megalithic ancestry. This was wedge-shaped with a northern annexe, approximately square. The fragments of the Food-vessel (3) were found in this annexe.
