Unfortunately the hole was enlarged and considerably disturbed before an archaeologist was notified ; by which time some of the material had been removed form the site although most, if not all of it, was subsequently returned. \r\nIn September 1975 staff of the Leicestershire Museums cleaned up the hole and it was seen that one crouched burial was substantially intact. This inhumation was accompanied by a copper or bronze awl (1) and a fragmented but restorable Beaker (2). Base fragments of another Beaker (3) were also found. Ref (d) reports that subsequent examination of the material extracted by the workmen, and the sieving of the spoil has provided additional information about the nature of the site. Bones representing a further six individuals were found, also three fragments of an antler spatula (4) sherds belonging to the second Beaker (3) and a flint flake (5). Ref (c) briefly records an excavation of the site by the Trent Valley Archaeological research Committee in 1977.
