On arrival at the barrow a quantity of burnt human bones and sherds of a cinerary urn (2) were noticed, having recently been turned up by the plough. The remainder of the urn (2) containing more bones was found in situ at 1 on the plan. At 2 on the plan the cremated bones of an adult were found below a crushed urn (3). At 3 on the plan the cremated bones of an adult and a child were found with two flint knives (4). At 5 on the plan, an oval hollow contained burnt soil and wood ashes, and a few burnt bones of an adult and a child. At 6 on the plan a Food Vessel (6) had been placed by a heap of decayed matter. Three oval graves had been cut into the chalk underlying the barrow. Grave A contained an unaccompanied crouched inhumation. Grave B the crouched inhumation of a young child with the remains od a Food Vessel vase (7) and an oval knife (8). At the bottom of Grave B was a crouched male inhumation lying on the base of a red deer antler (9) and accompanied by a crushed Food Vessel (10). Grave C contained the crouched inhumation of a tall female with a Food Vessel (11), a flint boring tool (12) a beaver's tooth (13) a knife of black flint (14) a flint flake (15) a bone bodkin (16) and a small lump of decayed matter resembling burnt wood (17). [Reference (c) states that this was charcoal and contained a bronze rivet (1) not mentioned in (a)]. Around the bodies in the three graves were snail shells (18) and spiral shells (19) A flint knife (20) lay on the old ground surface between graves B and C.
