Ashbee between December 1953 and March 1954 after the Parish Council's decision to level the barrow and lay out a football pitch. (In the end the Parish Council rescinded their decision). There was a primary double burial in a grave pit, contained in a tree trunk coffin, of a cremation and a contracted inhumation, the latter showing only as a \"silhouette\". The dagger (1) and small dagger (2) accompanied the cremation which was found at the bottom end of the coffin and separated from the inhumation by sand infilling. The cremation with the daggers was covered by brown fibrous material, which on analysis proved difficult to identify.
