They have not replied to my request for a photocopy of the relevant entry.\r\n\r\nAttached are letters (in reply to my enquiries) from The Stewartry Museum, Kikcudbright and the Dumfries Museum, about the rapiers in their collections.\r\n\r\n-------\r\n\r\nTHE STEWARTRY MUSEUM\r\n(Instituted 1879)\r\n\r\nKirkcudbright\r\n24th June 1979\r\n\r\nDear Mrs. Hopkin\r\n\r\nBronze Rapier\r\nI thank you for your letter regarding the above but regret that little is known about it.\r\nIt was donated to the museum in 1897 by someone called McLaren in Kirkcudbright but was then marked \"history unknown\". At some later date there must have been some reason for thinking that the rapier could have been associated with a hoard found at Drumcoltran and this information was entered on the card.\r\nI am sorry that this is all I can tell you.\r\n\r\nYours sincerely\r\n[signature]\r\nT.
