Ref (a) reports : \"In the middle of the cairn, at the bottom, was found a coffin composed of large flat stones, but there were no bones in it\". The finds were described as \"a piece of a Roman sword of fine brass with a round pin of the same metal\". (Items 1-2). In 1975 the remains of the cairn were partially excavated by L. Masters and M. Yates prior to its destruction by the Dumfries and Galloway Water Board in order to construct a water storage tank. Excavation failed to reveal any further burials. During the final clearance of the cairn by mechanical excavator a cordoned urn (3) was found inverted over a cremation and a pygmy vessel (4). Part of a burnt flint scraper was found in disturbed black soil near the centre of the cairn and other fragments of burnt and unburned flint, chert and pitchstone (5) were found in a disturbed area within the basal layer of the cairn.", "FindAltSiteRel": "Formerly Kirkcudbrightshire"}}, {"id": 146460, "created": "2020-08-19T21:44:38.086206", "project_id": 456, "task_id": 84997, "user_id": 658, "user_ip": null, "finish_time": "2020-08-19T21:45:14.133364", "timeout": null, "calibration": null, "external_uid": null, "media_url": null, "info": {"NGR": "NX 7577 6747", "Site": "", "CollHist": "", "Contents": "", "comments": "", "ArchiveEtc": "", "ContextType": "2a Grave", "BiblioSources": "", "Circumstances": "", "FindAltSiteRel": ""}}]
