The dagger (1) was found with two small \"spearheads\" (2-3) with a cremation at the bottom of a chalk cut pit under the barrow and covered by an urn (4) The spearheads were described as \"iron\" in (c). There are two reports of earlier openings of the barrow. (a) Reports the opening of the barrow by means of a central shaft. The chalk cut pit was reached and 3ft of its filling was cleared out, upon which the diggers \"left off for the night\", but work was not resumed.
