Bateman. Several interments were found between masses of rock, which had been covered by the mound. At the south side of the barrow, about 18\" from the surface a crouched inhumation was found with two iron knives (2), several tips broken from the tines of stag's horns (7), some other animal bones (8) and part of a quern (9) which had been used as a sharpening stone. Further north the rock was found to have been cut out to the further depth of 18\", forming an irregularly shaped grave. At the S. end of the grave a large stone covered a cremation accompanied by a small flint scraper (5), and a \"rude instrument of bone\" (6). Close by, in an angle of the rock was a small Food Vessel (4). Next to this deposit were decayed inhumations of an adult and a child, unaccompanied.
