Bateman opened a cairn in a plantation near the Parcelly Hay wharf of the Cromford and High Peak railway. The primary inhumation, which appeared to have been placed upright in a sitting or crouched posture in a small pit cut into rock to a depth of about 3ft, was accompanied by three flint flakes (3) some Beaker sherds (4) and various animal bones and teeht (5).
