Bateman on 4 June 1845. In the centre of the barrow, lying on a rather higher level than the surface of the natural soil, an extended inhumation was found. Close to the right arm lay a bronze dagger (1) broken in two, thirty bronze rivets (2) and two bronze pins (3). Close to the dagger lay two conical shale buttons (4) Numerous flint flakes (5) were found with this interment.
