Over the coming months we will endeavour to promote interaction and discussion with individuals and groups of the Christian faith and other interested parties. We would assert that the values of equality, fairness and justice associated with the gospel of Jesus Christ would be a firm foundation for a progressive Scotland. Our aim is to foster a community of Christians who are willing to listen to other views whilst offering a Christian dimension to discussions.\r\n\r\nwe have organised a series of well-attended debates and it is envisaged that such debates will be organised to reach a wider audience as we approach the Referendum in 2014.\r\n\r\nOur Declaration \r\n\r\nWe believe that it is fundamentally better for us all, if decisions about Scotland's future are taken by the people who care most about Scotland, that is, by the people of Scotland.\r\n\r\nBeing independent means Scotland's future will be in Scotland's hands. There is no doubt that Scotland has great potential. We are blessed by God with talent, resources and creativity. We have the opportunity to make our nation a better place to live, for this and future generations. We can build a greener, fairer and more prosperous society that is stringer and more successful than it is today.\r\n\r\nWe want a Scotland that speaks with her own voice and makes her own unique contribution to God's world: a Scotland that stands alongside the other nations on these isles, as an independent nation.\r\n\r\nScotland is wealthy enough to be a fairer nation.\r\n\r\nOur country generates a massive amount of wealth each and every year. Scotland is one of the wealthiest nations on the planet and is blessed with abundant natural resources. The vast majority of people in Scotland would be better off if this wealth was shared more fairly. Doing this would also make the people of Scotland healthier and happier.\r\n\r\nHelping those in need\r\n\r\nIt is our responsibility to help those in our society who need it but this in turn can help the whole of society. Countries with high inequality do not do as well, do not grow as well and are less stable. Policies that tackle inequalities are not harmful to economies. On the contrary, it has been proven that the countries which are most equal are the best placed to succeed. \r\n\r\nHelping others across the world \r\n\r\nIndependence will bring the opportunity for Scotland to take its place in the community of nations, bringing an approach to international relations founded on ethical principles and building on a history of international support, aid, dialogue and shared approaches to development and justice. Small European countries like Norway, Luxembourg, Sweden and Denmark have shown the way on international development, meeting and exceeding the UN Millennium Goal of contributing 0.7% of GDP to international aid. An independent Scotland could follow. Scotland can also lead by example in terms of nuclear disarmament, ensuring the removal of trident nuclear missiles from the Clyde. We could operate a more ethical foreign policy - far removed from the flawed processes that lead the UK into the war in Iraq.\r\n\r\n"}}]
